how to earn a Merit Badge 

1. Meet with any troop 531 scoutmaster, get a blue card signed

Scoutmasters might have a recommended MB counselor

2. research the merit badge booklet, meet with a mb counselor
3. work with counselor, meet requirements, get counselor signature on back of blue card (TIP: take picture of card)

4. turn in blue card signed by your mb counselor at a troop meeting and get any troop 531 scoutmaster's signature 
(TIP: keep applicant's record in a safe place)
(TIP: if only completing "part" of the requirements, be sure to fill in for your MB counselor what requirement numbers are done and get their sign-off for those portions you have completed. Troop 531 Scouts must complete blue card, NOT the MB counselor)

Scouts need to accumulate at least 21 merit badges before earning the Eagle Scout rank. Of those 21 badges, 14 must come from this list of Eagle-required merit badges and the rest can be any badges not used for these 14.
